September is Here!

So how are you feeling as we start the beginning of September? For me it is a time that I really look forward to. Don’t get me wrong, I feel gutted that the summer holidays are drawing to a close and that my kids will soon be returning to school (I love the holidays with them) but the beginning of September excites me.

As much as I enjoy the summer months and the heat that we ‘occasionally’ get in the UK, I do really love it when we start having slightly colder mornings. This time of year will always take me back to my school, college and uni days, all of which I loved. I associate September with the sun shining but there being a bit of a chill in the air and me trying to eek out wearing my Birkenstocks for a little longer.

Routines & Things
As you know I love my routines and the start of the school year always gives me the opportunity to get my systems in place. I always buy a new ‘academic’ diary - if you are a stationary lover like me you will understand how exciting that is - and I clear the decks. This year, now that the husband is working from home (he is normally away from Mon-Thurs) I have purchased a family planner as he will have no clue what is going on otherwise. Today is also yet another opportunity to ‘re-start’ some habits that may have gone out of the window while the kids have been at home. It is a new month and (because it has been a bank holiday) it is the start of a new week 

Four Months Left!
This may come as a shock if you haven’t really been thinking about it, but there are only four months left in 2020! Only four months! This year, with all its troubles, is going very quickly and it has certainly had its challenges but we can still kick 2020’s butt and get from it what we want! Starting September has given me the kick up the bum to ask myself certain questions that will help shape the final quarter of my year. These questions could help you too…

EXERCISE: Grab yourself a pen and paper and answer these questions:

  • Am I where I want to be right now – both personally and in my business?
  • What do I still want to achieve in 2020, both personally and in my business?
  • What changes do I need to implement to help me move forward?
  • What might I need to let go of in order to do this?
  • What is going to stand in the way of me making these changes?
  • What additional support might I need to help me achieve what I want to achieve
  • How will I feel at the end of 2020 when I am where I want to be?

How did you get on? Were these questions helpful? Try doing this same exercise again at the start of October so you can track where you are, understand what you still need to do to and what additional changes you might still need to make in order to reach your goals.

Having done this exercise myself I can tell you that the rest of my 2020 looks and feels pretty exciting.

If you need any support from a friendly coach to help you achieve what you still want to achieve in 2020 you know where to find me.

Good luck!
